The second American Open took place at the University of New Orleans from the 24.04.2004 to the 27.04.2004.For the first time, our team "Microsoft Hellhounds" took part in this competiton, along with strong american teams such as "CMPack 04", "Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets", "UPennalizers" and "UT Austin Villa".
In the round robin phase we showed very convincing performance, winning agains Austin Villa (4:2), Mexico (8:1) and Georgia Tech (8:0), hence we qualified for the semi-final as group winner.
After a very exciting match against "CMPack 04", the later winner of the tournament, we lost 0:4, and so we had to play against "UT Austin Villa" again in the final for the 3rd place. In this game we saw that you should always expect the unexpected. One of our robots suddenly switched side and started to play for our opponent because the referees hit a wrong button combination. Finally we lost this tight match 3:4 so we ended our competition with the 4th place.
